Olga handed me the new Kovers cds and as soon as I got home I put them on. Without exception, both of these discs are the best looking and sounding KPS kover kompilations yet. By all means get them! So as not to spoil the fun I will not describe any individual versions but I have many, many favorites after two spins of the GLKPSA. Big Black Smoke, State of Confusion, Sunny Afternoon, and I Go To Sleep stand out so far. There are several versions that are somewhat close to the originals and plenty that are drastic reworkings (including one of my own - Polly). I love both approaches. The recordings and performances on this album are the best us KPSers have ever offered and we should all be proud of the accomplishment. The Spivs "Kwirky" is a pure labor of love (a three headed transplant). Thanks a trillion to Olga, Geoff Lewis and Geoff Murrell for being so talented in their recordings and generous in providing the disc to all of us. Geoff Murrell's lead vocals are strong and rich and Geoff Lewis' backing tracks and production are tasteful and varied. Alcohol is hilarious as is Olga's Berkeley Mews. So send that cash to whichever international representative you've been assigned and enjoy! Mitch
