From olga.ruocco@which.net Tue Oct 10 10:50:02 2000 Date: Thu, 05 Oct 2000 22:22:14 +0100 From: olga.ruocco@which.net To: KPS Subject: GLKPSA and Kwirky Alcohol: Ellen you must have missed some posts a few weeks ago revealing the background to our Alcohol. We (quite boringly) recorded all our parts separately, in our homes in Worcester, Hampshire and Essex, and I must have double tracked about six tracks one very sober Sunday afternoon in various off-key voices with very strict instructions from Geoff Lewis not to go too over the top (as if I would! :-) ) So I am afraid a very rabble-sounding song was put together pretty clinically....Mind you, as we recorded this separately, I have no idea how inebriated the Geoffs might have been at the time of their warblings :-) Geoff Lewis recorded it first, Geoff Murrell's part was added, then it was sent to me to do some Floosie singing (but I opted for "operatic" Salvation Army Lady instead) and extra drunken choruses. Of course, now that I have a new pc cd player and can burn off cds once more, Geoff M has come out of the woodwork to join me in extolling the virtues of the cds!!!!!! :-) Seeing as I will soon be copying the cds to order (we are completing our latest batch), I hope this doesn't prompt a rush of another 50 orders which I will have to complete by myself! Phil, what a lovely post. Thank you. We have enjoyed this Labour of Love, despite our grumblings about it from time to time :-) We were so delighted with the quality of the songs submitted to us, and I am sorry that some people who had originally proposed to send something decided that time was against them and dropped out. There was a time when I was saying to the boys ("boys"! ha! :-) ) that it looked like we would have to produce a double album! Gawd, think of that....... As for royalties for Ray (no Dave songs on the albums) .....believe me we would have no problem with that. I did write to Ray several times about the project so he knew what was going on. And he and Dave have their own copies anyway....given to them by my own fair hands. Any profits that are made (and believe me the expenses have been very high because of the printing on the high quality artwork for the labels and inlays) will go to the charity that John Dalton supports (for Leukaemia Research). It was interesting when I was compiling a track list for the GLKPSA and Kwirky how many Kinks songs begin with the letter S. There are 6 out of the 12 Spivs tracks for a start! Olga
